Sexual assaults encompass a broad range of intentional sexual contacts that are unwelcome and without consent. The most serious sexual assaults, include rape, sodomy, and forced forms of sex. No form of sexual assault is ever acceptable in the Department of the Navy, and all are crimes.

Our vision is to establish a national benchmark for recovery and eliminate sexual assault through empowered and engaged Airmen. To accomplish that goal, we educate, advocate and collaborate through our Sexual Assault Prevention and Response teams at all Air Force installations to respond to and stop sexual assault and its harmful effects on the Air Force. While the new tool isn't good news for offenders, it's expected to allow victims making a restricted report of sexual assault — a reporting mechanism that allows a victim to remain confidential — to help investigators do a better job of finding wrongdoers and bring them to justice.
